a-PiHP to be added in Schedule II of the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971 | Toxicology news

In March 2023, the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs decided to include  α-Pyrrolidinoisohexanophenone (α-PHiP)  in Schedule II of the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971.

α-Pyrrolidinoisohexanophenone is a synthetic cathinone and an isomer of the internationally controlled α-PHP, listed under the Schedule II of the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971.

α-Pyrrolidinoisohexanophenone was first reported to the UNODC Early Warning Advisory in 2016. Since then, many countries and territories have reported its emergence.

The CFSRE and the SOFT NPS Committee's most recent recommendations (Q2 2023) position both α-PHP and α-PiHP in tier 1 of stimulants and hallucinogens to  be monitored.
